Opportunity
Each year Scripture Union recruits around 1700 volunteers for its programme of residential holidays.The holidays programme runs from the Lake District to Kent, from the North East to the South West with even a few overseas. Most holidays run for a week though some are for a weekend and a few for a fortnight. They take children and young people aged 8 - 18, though each one would normally cover only a three or four year age spread.
Most holidays are based in independent boarding schools but a few are in Christian residential centres, a few in tents and our sailing holidays (on the Norfolk Broads) are based on the boats.
Most holidays for primary-aged children offer a mix of games, crafts, sports, often with a day trip out whereas those for Secondary-age tend to be more multi-activity or specialist in nature - drama, karting, computing, cycling to name but a few but there are also opportunities to serve alongside disabled teenagers or at a nursery for children with special needs.
We need caterers, First Aiders, those with IT skills, those with outdoor pursuit experience and qualifications but most of all we need folk who enjoy sharing their lives and their faith with children and young people.
