After University, Benet joined the BBC as a trainee, working across the corporation in Television and Radio. After a spell at London’s Capital Radio, he moved to ITN, where he played a key role in building the broadcaster’s online presence.

For eight years, he was a board member at CTN Communications (www.ctn.co.uk) where he advised many FTSE companies and non-governmental organisations on communications.

He has been responsible for many of The Conservative Party’s recent video communications, including the 2005 Party Election Broadcasts. In 2005 he stood as the Tory Candidate in Brentford and Isleworth. 

Benet was Chief Policy Adviser to Greenpeace UK before taking up his appointment as Deputy Private Secretary in the Household of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in 2008.  His portfolio within the office includes food and farming, the natural environment and corporate social responsibility.
