Four Retired Heads Now Honorary Fellows
The Rank Foundation's Leadership Award Scheme has always relied heavily on the interest, judgement and support of the Heads of the schools in the Scheme. Thus the Fellowship is indebted to all those Heads who have worked within the Scheme: many have been hugely committed to the values and objectives of the Fellowship.
The Steering Committee recently decided to honour Heads who have sustained a long-term relationship with the Scheme and the Fellowship by inviting them to become Honorary Fellows on their retirement from headship. It is with great pleasure that we can announce the first four retired Heads who have been invited and who have all accepted with pleasure. They are Dennis Silk, formerly Warden of Radley and an architect of the Leadership Award Scheme, Giles Mercer of Prior Park, Chris Hirst of Sedbergh and Janet Pickering (pictured) who put forward Leadership Award candidates in both schools where she was Head, St Bees and withington Girls School. It is marvellous to have them involved in the continuing work of the Fellowship.
